Adventurous Rosie = Scared Daddy

Rosie has overcome her fear of stairs, at least the ones on the outside. She has also decided that she can go in and out the back door whenever anyone else does.  She just slips right by you on the way out.  It hasn't really been a problem until she decided she could go down the deck steps without permission. She is never outside off the deck without her leash on.  If she chased something, we would never be able to catch her.

This morning Jerry calls me at work to tell me we will have to do something about Rosie. She slipped out the door when he went out to start his truck.  Her adventurous self went down the steps, decided to trot herself down the driveway, across the road to the mail box.  Jerry was going after her and calling her the entire time.  She chose to ignore her daddy and just kept on going.  He finally got her and took her back to the house.   It had Jerry so upset that he spanked her (a first), fussed at her (another first) and put her directly in her crate.  He couldn't stand it long and got her out and loved on her before he left for work.  I am so glad I was not home.  I would have had been frantic thinking that a car might be coming while she was crossing the road. It makes me shiver to think about.

We are going to have to devise a gate or something to block off the deck steps.  I can't stand the thought of something happening to her.

I love my adventurous Rosie (but please don't scare us like that again)
